  • This competition is open to Wayne State University students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Students may be undergraduate or graduate level, with at least half-time status.

  • Apps may include any number of features (e.g. push notifications, text messaging, etc.).
  • Apps may be designed for iOS and/or Android, or may be web-based as long as they are native to a mobile device.
  • No third-party frameworks are permitted in app development unless proper licenses are acquired.
  • Submissions must include all source code for official judges’ review.
  • Teams may submit only one (1) app for the competition, but they may have one version for each accepted operating system (e.g., iOS or Android).
  • The NEWLY EXTENDED  registration deadline is April 25th; registration forms are available here.
  • The app submission deadline is May 30th at 5PM; submit your app here.

  • Apps submitted to the competition should acknowledge Wayne State University’s Blackstone LaunchPad program somewhere in the app (e.g., the credits or info screen). Using the Blackstone LaunchPad name or logo outside the app (e.g., in marketing materials) during the competition is prohibited. Winners of any prizes in the app competition should modify the next version of their app to include a statement of how their app did in the competition. As an example, "Award winning app from the Mobile App Competition sponsored by WSU’s Blackstone LaunchPad. We are grateful for the University’s encouragement and support."
